Using Commands in Minecraft
Commands can be entered in the chat window, which is displayed by pressing the T
key (Java Edition) or by tapping the chat button (Bedrock Edition). All commands begin with a forward slash (/
).
Command Blocks
Command blocks are special blocks that can execute commands when activated by redstone. They are available only in Creative mode or with cheats enabled.
To get a command block, use: /give @s command_block
Permission Levels
Some commands require a certain permission level to use. In single player, enabling cheats will grant you all permissions. On servers, permission levels range from 0 (normal player) to 4 (server admin).
Edition Differences
Java and Bedrock editions of Minecraft have some differences in command syntax and available commands. Use the edition filter to see commands specific to your version.
